Hands On Experience For John Mateer

Organic NIL deals are the best. As reported by Daily Evergreen, Molly Schotzko came to speak to a marketing class in the summer of 2022 and struck up a convo with John Mateer about their barbecue business called Miss Huddy’s Barbecue. Mateer expressed an interest in learning the business and the rest was history. Mateer has been promoting Miss Huddy’s via social media when they are scheduled to make an appearance and gets paid for it.

Mateer is in line to start this year after backing up Cam Ward who transferred to Miami. Even after a shaky spring game, Mateer looks to still be in control of the offense come the fall. I looked at Mateer’s body of work in late action against Northern Colorado last year and came away impressed:

Nwora is an awesome athlete with a great personality
photo cred: Texas Athletics

Marilyn Nwora is not afraid to let the world know she's not checking for Beyonce or Taylor Swift musically. Ray Villareal, the host of the video series ZIPS "Car Wash Convos™" asked Nwora if she was a Swiftie or in the Beyhive, Nwora chose Beyonce off of the strength of the music but admitted Rihanna is her fave.

Marilyn Nwora is nothing short of amazing at what she does in track and in the classroom. A graduate student at the University of Texas, Nwora was named 2024 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, USTFCCCA, Indoor Second Team All-American (Shot Put), 2023 USTFCCCA Outdoor and Indoor Second Team All-American (Shot Put), 2022 USTFCCCA Second Team All-American (Shot Put), and 2022 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

"Ray and I had a great time filming Car Wash Convos and I'm honored to be a part of such a unique approach to NIL to allow Longhorn Nation to see another side of my personality," said Marilyn Nwora.

Car Wash Convos™ is a collaboration between ZIPS, Learfield – the media and technology company powering college sports and The University of Texas multimedia rights holder – and NIL marketplace leader Opendorse. Season 2 featured 22 male and female student-athletes from six universities and each episode gave fans a glimpse into student-athletes' likes and dislikes, their opinions on local fare, life on the practice field, their favorite pastimes and more.

Here's a clip of Marilyn Nwora getting busy at shot put:
