DJ is the best QB at Florida since Cam Newton
photo cred: DJ Lagway

Since 2009, I've witnessed so many quarterback mishaps at Florida. The mishandling of Cam Newton and Jeff Driskell. The Will Grier supplement scandal and ton of transfer duds. Recently the play has been good with the season Graham Mertz had last year being the most efficient QB in the SEC. This is the year we finally see Florida introduce a QB who could potentially be a Heisman favorite as soon as 2025. Enter DJ Lagway.

Along with his stellar play in the Orange and Blue game this past Saturday, DJ Lagway released his own NIL clothing collection with clothing brand OTSS (Only The Strong Survive). Lagway's collection was designed by Florida-based designer The Akra Vision and will be available in early May via the OPEN SuperApp.

DJ Lagway threw for 4,604 yards and 58 touchdowns as a senior at Willis (Texas) High School leading his team to a 12-1 record, their first district title since 2002 and a trip to the 6A-Division II regional final. He beat out 2024 Alabama quarterback signee Julian Sayin and 2026 USC quarterback commit Julian 'Ju Ju' Lewis to become the 39th player to earn the Gatorade Player of the Year Award given to the top high school football player in America. Lagway joins John Brantley (2007), Brock Berlin (2000) and Emmitt Smith (1987) as the olny Gator players to win the award.

If you aren't familiar with DJ's highlights, I suggest you check them below before he steps on the field in the fall:

Joe Bamisile is working it out

Coming back home to play for VCU has paid dividends for Joe Bamisile. After a fight with the NCAA over being granted a waiver to play after transferring from Oklahoma, Bamisile averaged 13 ppg this year for the Rams.

The partnership between Bamisile and Planet Fitness is a mutual one. "Navigating NCAA restrictions for my transfer to VCU was tough, especially during my senior year and supporting my family after father's heart surgery,” stated Bamisile

“Fitness was a huge part of my mental health journey during a challenging circumstance. I am excited to partner with Planet Fitness, a place where I found support, to share my story and show others the accessibility and affordability of fitness, and its impact on mental and physical health.”

The NIL stakes get higher and higher everyday. First it was Jaxson Dart signing a NIL deal with a private jet company and now Quinn Ewers is joining him.

Ewers will partner Nicholas Air marketing campaigns, promotional ads, and community engagements, and gain access to their fleet. Ewers had an impressive run last year and will be a favorite to win the Heisman this coming fall.

“We are really excited to welcome Quinn to the NICHOLAS AIR family. He’s got exceptional talent and is the type of leader and player that makes college football exciting to watch. We look forward to seeing Quinn excel on the field and seeing him onboard with NICHOLAS AIR,” said NJ Correnti, Founder and CEO of NICHOLAS AIR.

“I’m fired up for my new partnership with NICHOLAS AIR. It is a first-class organization and a perfect match for my travel needs. Their attention to detail and commitment to high-level service for their Members is second to none. Proud to represent their brand.”
